New this year in Ferns and just down this week from production in Watertown – Athyrium ‘Godzilla’ (Giant Japanese Painted)! He may be nothing much to look at now at only about 8-10″, but this guy will get 3′ tall and spread 4-6′ wide at maturity! It has leaves just like Japanese Painted Fern (Athyrium nipponicum) but crossed with Lady Fern for some height and spread. Together with chartreuse Sun King Aralia (Spikenard) they’ll make a good fillers for moist shady areas adding a lot of foliar interest. Want a big Hosta too? Look for Humpback Whale which will get 3′ high x 7′ wide!
