Spring Hire - Outside Salesperson

Description of Duties

  • Engage directly with customers to identify, find, and load the requested plant material
  • Fulfill Planters’ Choice’s values of quick, efficient, and courteous customer service
  • Commit to continuous learning to ensure knowledgeable interactions with customers
  • Work collaboratively with the yard crew to perform necessary yard functions between sales
    • ie. unloading and putting away plant material, plant spacing, upkeep
  • Operate a front loader and various other tools and machinery (will be trained)

  • Be able to lift 50 lbs and work outside in all weather conditions

Spring Hire - CDL Driver

Description of Duties

  • Perform deliveries of nursery stock to customers throughout the state and occasionally out of state
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks and ensure contents are properly secured and tarped to prevent breakage or damage
  • Transfer material between our various farms, fields, and sales yards
  • Obtain and return proper paperwork for each delivery
  • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
  • Occasionally assist in the nursery yard as needed

Job Requirements

  • Willingness to learn and be a part of a team; a good attitude is a must
  • CDL Class B required, A preferred
  • At least 1 year CDL driving experience
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a drug test
  • Be able to lift 50lbs and work outside in all weather conditions

Inventory Control Manager, Assistant Purchasing Manager

Description of Duties

Planters’ Choice is looking for a motivated individual with good critical thinking skills and an eye for detail to maintain the inventory for our main sales location in Newtown, CT. The ICM will be expected to work independently on a daily basis to complete the following duties to maintain accurate inventory of stock:

  • Routinely conduct thorough cycle counts of stock to maintain accuracy
  • Review and correct daily sales discrepancies as needed
  • Utilize internal database software and excel spreadsheets to maintain and record inventory changes throughout the season
  • Facilitate the transfers of materials between locations

In addition to the inventory control responsibilities, the ICM will be expected to assist the Purchasing Manager with day-to-day tasks including:

  • Data entry for spreadsheets and purchase orders
  • Receiving of purchased materials into the internal database
  • Adjusting pricing as needed within the system
  • Printing of tags and signage (and checking that they have been properly applied)
  • Help keep the PM informed of inventory issues or needs
  • Communicate staff needs and issues to PM while his is on the road or off site
  • Ordering of hard-goods (tools, fertilizer, equipment) and office supplies

Job Requirements

  • Plant knowledge (particularly woody trees and shrubs)
  • High attention to detail and ability to work efficiently
  • Good computer skills, especially with Excel and other database programs
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and be a part of our team and culture
