Virginia Sweetspire (Itea virginica) really shows off their fall color this time of year especially when combined with any evergreens. This native deciduous shrub is best planted at a site with moist soil in full sun to partial shade. They’ll add summer interest too, with their creamy-white flower spikes. Shown here is the ‘Little Henry’ which grows 3-4′ high – a little more compact than the species and just slightly smaller than ‘Henry’s Garnet’.

Haven’t used them yet? Now is the best time to try some out!
