American Holly (Ilex opaca) is a good choice when you want broadleaf evergreen screening that can tolerate sun, shade and deer browsing. ‘Jersey Princess’ seen here is a female cultivar that produces an abundance of bright red berries and has a wide and dense pyramidal habit. It branches out at about 3′ from the ground and has a strong central leader. Slowly growing 35′ high and 25′ wide, it will become a nice evergreen accent. Great for pollinators and wildlife!

Plant in acid soil in moist but WELL-DRAINED soil. Only needs occasional pruning.
